Orvieto is well known for its legendary white wine Orvieto D.O.C. This attractive town, with its most spectacular position, rises in the centre of a famous wine-growing area.
My favourite ritual here is to visit a local winery and enjoy a great tasting session with the Orvieto Classico wine, one of the best!
According to a tradition Luca Signorelli demanded that part of his salary for the decoration of the Cathedral be made in wine!
Apparently, Pinturicchio was dismissed after a year for using “too much blue, too much gold and too much wine”.
